Call for Sessions for the 17th LACIGF will be open soon

During the first weeks of July 2024, the call for applications for sessions for the 17th LACIGF 2024 will be opened for the first time.

This is a step forward in the consolidation of a diverse, multi-sectoral, horizontal dialogue space, which meets the guidelines defined in the statutes adopted in 2021 (https://lacigf.org/en/bylaws/) that seeks to open the participation of actors from multiple sectors, academia, technical community, government, private sector, civil society, to propose panel sessions, workshops, lightning sessions or other formats.

The sessions should be ascribed to one of the selected working themes for 2024

  • AI and Emerging Technologies
  • Human Rights
  • Cybersecurity
  • Universal Access and Meaningful Connectivity
  • Digital Governance and Cooperation
  • Environment and sustainability
  • Education and digital literacy
  • Gender and diversity
  • Ethical and legal challenges

The sessions submitted to the call will be evaluated by the Workshop Selection Committee (CST) established in 2024, which is composed of 12 people from the technical, civil society, government and private sectors, who were selected from a pool of 74 applicants from 20 LAC countries, following an open call (See more information https://lacigf.org/en/conformation/ ).

One of the criteria that will be taken into account for the selection of sessions is diversity in terms of gender, geography, ethnicity, stakeholder group, political perspective. Special consideration will be given to applications from people with disabilities, youth, marginalised or underrepresented groups.
